2. EDUCATION 1984: graduation in Physics, Pavia. 1989 Ph.D in Physics, Pavia. 1986-1988 "visiting scientist" (CSIC, Spagna). 1986-1988 "summer student” Florida State University (USA). 1989-1990 post-doc at IRRMA (CH) and SISSA (Trieste).
3. PROFESSIONAL CARREER: 1990-1996 assistant professor, Univ. Milano. 1990-1996 assistant professor, Univ. Milano-Bicocca. 1999-2002 associate professor, Univ. Cagliari. 2002-present full professor, Univ. Cagliari.
4. RESPONSIBILITIES: 2002-2004: Coordinator of the Steering Committee for HPC of the Italian National Institute for the Physics of Matter. 2003-2007: Head of the Ph.D. program in Physics at the University of Cagliari. 2008-2012: Editor-in-Chief of the "European Physical Journal B. 2009-2010: Director of the "Sardinian Laboratory for Computational Materials Science" (SLACS). 2009-2011: Coordinator of the "Panel for Physical Sciences" of the University of Cagliari. 2011-present: Head of the Department of Physics at the University of Cagliari. 2012-present: Colloquia& Reviews Editor of the "European Physical Journal B.
